As the Chief Scientist AI, you will be at the forefront of our AI strategy, inspiring and leading the progress in this domain and building & leveraging from the best-in-class partnerships. You will interact with our clients, executive teams as well as thriving engineering community. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify AI opportunities, develop AI-powered solutions, and ensure the successful integration of AI technologies into our products and services.

 

The Chief Scientist AI works closely with stakeholders across departments to understand business requirements and priorities, such as the Innovation Team, ELT, IT, and Operations. Additionally (s)he collaborates with data science, engineering, and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into products and services.

 

A preferred candidate should possess a robust network, relationships with key spatial AI companies & academia, and be esteemed within ecosystems as a pioneering leader in the field of AI.

 

Core Activities…

AI Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the company’s AI strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide visionary leadership and guidance on AI trends, opportunities, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence in AI across the organization.
  • Build strategic partnerships with leading AI companies
  • Prioritize – needs to be eye on the target instead of distraction – business value-oriented

 

AI Research and Development:

  • Lead AI research initiatives to explore emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • Oversee the development of AI algorithms, models, and prototypes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in AI capabilities.

 

AI Solution Development:

  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to conceptualize and develop AI-powered solutions.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality AI solutions that meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Champion the use of AI to enhance products, services, and business processes.

 

AI Governance and Ethics:

  • Establish policies and guidelines for the responsible and ethical use of AI.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards in AI development and deployment.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with AI technologies.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with stakeholders across departments to understand business requirements and priorities.
  • Collaborate with data science, engineering, and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into products and services.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry experts in AI.

 

Communication & relationship management

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy to articulate the vision, goals, and progress of AI initiatives to the ELT and broader organization.
  • Craft compelling pitches and presentations that highlight the strategic importance of AI in achieving business objectives.
  • Translate technical concepts into layman’s terms to ensure clear understanding and alignment with ELT members.
  • Communicate technical concepts and methodologies to AI experts in a clear and concise manner, fostering understanding and alignment with organizational goals
  • In parallel be able to translate AI technical concepts and methodologies for the broader organization, being the linking pin bringing management and AI technology together.

 

Proficiency/ familiarity with following technical competencies

  • (Spatial data) Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Big Data Technologies and AI Infrastructure and Tools

 

Business Acumen

  • Ability to understand business objectives, identify AI opportunities that align with strategic goals, and communicate the value proposition of AI initiatives to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

 

Collaboration and Communication

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders (both managerial and more technical people), facilitate cross-functional teamwork, and translate technical concepts into business terms.

 

Ethical and Regulatory Awareness

  • Awareness of ethical considerations and regulatory requirements related to AI, including privacy, bias, fairness, and transparency, and the ability to integrate ethical principles into AI development and deployment processes.

 

Industry network

  • To leverage industry relationships to establish partnerships and collaborations with other organizations, research institutions, and technology providers
  • To provide opportunities to engage with peers and thought leaders in the AI community, allowing to stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
  • To gain valuable insights into market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics
  • To be a thought leader in the industry, contributing to conferences, forums, and publications to share insights, perspectives, and innovation to enhances Fugro’s reputation and credibility in the AI space.
